Making meditation and yoga accessible to all members of the community

Yoga classes and meditation courses for multicultural communities

For reasons of cost, location and cultural differences, migrant women and/or women from a refugee background often miss out on activities designed to improve their mental and physical health. It is also widely acknowledged that people from refugee backgrounds experience significant distress related to pre-migration life events and experiences of resettlement. Depression and anxiety are often cited as being experienced in higher rates by these people compared with the majority population (beyondblue, 2012).

What we offer

Melbourne Mindfulness Foundation delivers culturally appropriate meditation courses and yoga classes at a location convenient and appropriate to your not for profit organisation or community group. We deliver:

  • Meditation courses and yoga classes for women only
  • Meditation courses and yoga classes for residents of public housing
  • Meditation courses and yoga classes for Muslim women.

Courses we are currently running

We currently run a yoga and meditation program for migrant women living in the Carlton Public Housing Estate on Wednesday and Friday nights during the school term (6-7pm).
